Mera Bharat (not so) Mahaan

This is a view shared by a few of us friends and am posting on behalf of the group.

India 1947, Israel 1948, Singapore 1965.

What the hell is the meaning of these figures? Who cares about the transformation occurred in Israel and Singapore till date.

What we in India have is freedom.

Can you imagine chewing gum was banned in Singapore till last year? And here we not only have freedom to enjoy it but also to stick it anywhere. The guys in Singapore missed so much fun.

And yeah, forget about human beings, India shows full concern towards animals too. Dogs are free to move anywhere; on roads (causing accidents), in gardens (shitting, pissing and biting) and on top of our cars. And what can I say about the most revered, holiest mother COW! Cow slaughter is a crime here, so we decorate the roads with garbage and let them savour it. PETA should confer us with a medal for such philanthropy.

Oh, but this is all so pointless! Pointless at a point when we are creating another Silicon Valley and growing at a compounded 9-10% rate. So forget it. So I warmly and heartily welcome one and all to India; a land where you can demand your rights but don't need to perform your duties; where freedom is in the air just like water on the streets in monsoon; and rules and regulations. . . oh, what's that!

We are bored of hearing people cursing the politicians and flowing to US and UK for better future...

But the fact of the matter is that like others we are running away from responsiblities... our responsiblities towards the country...

All of us try and bribe the officials either to get our work done on top priority or to save ourselves from being lashed by a fine...

We litter on road and curse the Municipal auhorities that they havent done their duty...

Am just too tired of it man...

this country is full of hypocrites which keeps on promising good deeds but when its time to perform, they back out.

Just a thought....

“What if all the politicians, celebrities and industrialists give some percentage of their money to the poor.... wouldnt we be able to eradicate poverty... am sure the money would be able to get people above poverty line“

i know this is an absurd and a very weird thought but the fact of the matter is that i wanna see my country at the top... its out of sheer patriotism...

so as to what u can do abt it :-
1. Persuade people not to spit around and not to litter... try and guide them
2. Try and put up dust bins in the city
3. (For the educated lot)... go to ur ex schools and educate the younger lot... atleast we can work on improving the future...

Many other things which u all do know and can work out for urselves.

Indeed thoughtful post Neel! It would be good if you can change people around you at least a bit. Some changes are difficult to adopt, but according to one's conviniency such changes are marked as impossible. But as a responsible citizen one can always contribute his/her bit towards a better India and a better society.

you can find some more such tips at http://pulzinponderland.wordpress.com/2007/11/12/what-bit-can-i-do/
